Hosting a Wiki allows you to be in control. You can set pages to be private thus only viewable with login or password. You can also set the wiki to open to the public. I have had my wiki for 3 months and no malicious changes at all. It has been fantastic to be able to tweak it on the fly. I am writing this 2 weeks before the CUEBC.ca conference. I will be able to update it and have others update it as the conference gets closer.

Consider also using Blogging as is done with this PreCalculus course
This teacher has one official scribe for the class each day. Then he only has one set of notes to check. This provides every student with perfect. (Peer Pressure supports the students in creating the best notes possible)
Consider also having every student with a del.icio.us account and using a unique tag to share their shared learning of resources - including adding critical thoughts in the notes field.
You could create a unique tag for your class such as MrAGrade6Sc

    Writing Process
For some reason 'Essays' still hold a position of honour as crowning achievements of literacy. Essays as a symbol of rigor, ignor that our world is about stories, not essays.
A model for the writing process can be very similar to the model for telling stories. The model helps give support; however, the process is likely much more recursive in nature.

The following are aspects of the writing process and may not flow in a linear fashion.
Pre-writing - Brainstorming, planning, building ideas, setting the stage, choosing audience and purpose.
    Proofreading - Checking for errors
Publishing- Producing a 'final' or 'clean' copy - Sharing with an audience - May include additional features - Images, illustrations, dedications, author notes, title page etc
Performance Standards are another tool to support growing as a writer or storyteller.
    The BC
    has developed <a href="http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/perf_stands/writing.htm" title="BC Writing Performance StandardsStandards">Writing Performance Standards</a> for K to 10. These are located:http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/perf_stands/writing.htm
    Working with Performance
Meaning - ideas and information, including development and use of detail
Style - clarity, variety, and impact of language
Form - attention to the “rules” of the particular form of writing
Conventions- spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, and legibility

I know growing up most of my writing instruction was on <i>Conventions</i>. The beauty of storytelling
is that the language of stories is much more fluid. This places the focus on meaning and using the wrappers of style, form and conventions to enhance not an exhaustive list:

Developing a class conference is a way to go paperless in the classroom. As a teacher you can post your worksheets and have your students deposit their work to the conference. In First Class, you have the ability to check the time they have posted and look at the history of a document and reference the input to a document or posting. Students will have the ability to access their work and your assignments from home through First Class.
Teachers have effectively used class conferences to do collaborative projects, peer editing and supplementary work or home study. See the following video on how students use a Math teacher's posting to prepare for government exams. Using FC for Content

Thinking critically is reframing the question so that we can bring new meaning to the facts or figures. We can include looking at supporting data or comparing what one finds through research to help bring new meaning to our questions. Using data brings useful meaning to our inquiry.
This video is an example of empowering students to lead critical thinking discussions.

    The Fourth Grade Slump
James Paul Gee explains the Fourth Grade Slump. Although from 2008, very applicable to learning today.

I question that arises often is simply why bother?
I question that arises often is simply why bother? Why bother to spend time learning technology? Why bother taking time away from learning PLO's to learn technology? Why bother teaching something that is not in a PLO?
Here is an example of how our world is different and open the discussion about how our students have changed and how we may need to change to reach our students.
After reviewing the Shift Happens Video, looking at the environment that students are learning in. Not just a local perspective, but rather a global perspective of what is happening and the challenges our students will face with changing technology.
